Breaking up my routine…

Is hard on my writing. I’m naturally a creature of habit, and a disruption to my routine throws me out of the space I write from more than it should. The ‘rona, holidays, helping my son with his homework, even a trip to the grocery store can foul my plans and interrupt my progress. Of course I can get back on track from any of these things, but once I’m off the familiar path I make for writing, any other distraction or impediment seems larger than ever. Once I have a chance to reorient on my routine, the rest usually falls into place. If the damage to my routine is more significant, it will take more effort to get back in the flow of things. Between the pandemic, Christmas fast approaching, and more seasonal sickness than I’ve seen in a long time, the challenges to my routine seem endless lately. Still, this is what I want to do with my time, and making it work despite all these distractions is important to me.
